Pupillage 2019

Chambers is inviting applications for one pupillage to commence in September/October 2019. Pupillage will either be criminal, or mixed civil/criminal dependent on the candidate. If Chambers consider there to be 2 outstanding candidates, we will consider taking a second pupil to start in September/October 2019 or 2020, dependent on the candidate. Applications should be sent to chambers by email to pupillage@39parksquare.com and the application email should attach the following documents:1) A covering letter stating whether you are applying for the crime or mixed pupillage; 2) A curriculum vitae; 3) A completed copy of the pupillage application form.The form is available to download here The closing date for applications is midnight on the 1st day of March 2019. Description Chambers attracts a significant volume of junior advocacy work and prides itself on developing pupils and junior tenants, helping them become strong advocates capable of a sustained career at the bar. Pupil Supervisors Pupils will likely be supervised by one or both Heads of Chambers  dependent on criminal/mixed pupillage. Criminal pupillage will cover both Defence and Prosecution work up to RASSO Grade 4 level. Mixed pupillage will also cover all civil hearings up to Multi-Track Trials. Pupils will share their supervisors room and accompany them in all aspects of their practice. You may, from time to time, also work with other Members of Chambers covering Magistrates Courts work if warranted by your development. First Six You will go to court and attend conferences on a daily basis with your pupil supervisor. You will also assist with undertaking drafting and written advices as well as legal research. Second Six You will take on an increasing amount of your own work and as the tenancy decision approaches are likely to be in court three of four times per week. Award Chambers guarantees earnings of a minimum of 20,000, comprising of a 8,000 award during the first six and guaranteed earnings of 12,000 in the second six. However, past pupils have far exceeded these figures in their second six, earning well over and above the guaranteed minimum. We therefore estimate pupils yearly earnings to will be in the region of 20,000-30,000. Details of how to apply: Applications should be sent to chambers by email to pupillage@39parksquare.com.
