Two members of 39 Park Square recently delivered a training course that was a little different from the norm. Neil Davey QC and Anthony Moore recently flew out to Mauritius as the guests of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to conduct a week's advocacy training course. The course, which was developed by Anthony at the invitation of Satyajit Boolell SC DPP, provided the participants with the opportunity to acquire, refresh and improve skills in Case Analysis and Preparation, Cross Examination techniques, Oral Submissions, and Witness Handling. The course proved extremely successful, as well as being immensely enjoyable for all concerned, with the island's law officers joining in with good humour and enthusiasm. To quote from the September issue of the ODPP's newsletter: All participants (this included members of the Attorney General's Office and pupils/research officers of the ODDP) were unanimous about the success of the course and its invaluable worth as a tool for our future as law officers.' The course concluded on the Friday with Neil and Anthony being treated to a most entertaining dinner at the Angsana Hotel. The newsletter which includes an interview with Anthony by Ashley Victor, the Public Relations Officer for the ODPP can be found here: http://dpp.gov.mu/English/Documents/Issue28.pdf
