David was commissioned from Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst in 1988. He served with the Regular and Territorial Army.
After leaving the Army, he worked for five years (two years training contract and three years PQE) as a solicitor in general practice. As such he understands the pressures on solicitors and is used to dealing tactfully with difficult clients.
David is public access qualified and accepts work on this basis in the fields of crime and courts martial.
Crime
Following his Call to the Bar David has represented clients successfully in the Court of Appeal and appears regularly in the Crown Court and Courts Martial. He carries out Defence and prosecution work and is able to pick up a brief at short notice where required.
As an ex solicitor he is happy to carry out work in the Magistrates Court and deal with cases through to and including the Court of Appeal
Regulatory
David regularly acts for both the Prosecution and Defence in cases involving RSPCA and CPS animal cruelty cases.
David’s personal interests include Mountaineering, Cross Country Skiing. In his earlier life he has represented Great Britain in Biathlon and England in Paragliding. David is still active with a local University Mountaineering Club. He has, in the past, advised for film and TV on arctic and wilderness living skills.
In addition, David plays the Northumbrian and Highland Bagpipes at local folk music sessions.
His free time now is largely spent with his soon to be teenage son, who has developed a keen interest in going to the gym, swimming and can often be found at the local climbing wall. Occasionally he still finds time to go to the lake district walking and wild-camping.
